Prominent Igbo billionaire and oil magnate Prince Arthur Eze was seen wearing a cap with President Bola Tinubu’s insignia during Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The high-profile event, held at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu, saw Mbah joined by all state commissioners and chairpersons of Enugu’s 17 local government areas.
Attendees included Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and governors from the Progressive Governors Forum. Eze, dressed in an APC-branded agbada, was photographed smiling and engaging with party leaders, signaling strong support for Tinubu and the APC’s growing influence in the Southeast.
While not a known card-carrying member of any party, Eze has historically supported various political factions. His presence underscores his enduring influence in Nigeria’s political and business spheres. Eze, founder of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, holds 22 oil and gas licenses across 12 African countries, making it the largest holder of oil exploration blocks in Africa. He also established Triax Airlines in 1992, which operated until 2000.
