Prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Sunny Sylvester, has voiced strong opposition to the premature endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid. Speaking during an interview with Trust TV, Sylvester criticized the move, questioning the basis for supporting a second term when, according to him, the administration has yet to deliver tangible results.
Sylvester particularly condemned the endorsement granted to President Tinubu during the party’s recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, describing it as both hasty and undeserved. He emphasized that, were he in a position close to the presidency, he would have firmly rejected the idea.
“If I were close to the presidency, honestly, I wouldn’t have endorsed President Tinubu at the last NEC meeting,” Sylvester stated. “No way—what has he done, with all due respect? I’ve gone on air, on different stations, to say that in all my life, I’ve never seen a president begin campaigning for re-election from day one.”
He also referenced a meeting in Lagos involving APC leaders, including former Ogun State governor Segun Osoba, where such claims were reportedly denied. Nonetheless, Sylvester maintained his stance, urging the party to prioritize accountability over premature political loyalty.
