A Nigerian national has been arrested in India for allegedly supplying about N812m (Rs 5 crore) worth of drugs to nearly 1,975 users in Telangana through an online platform.
According to a Times of India report, the suspect, known as Nick, was linked to ongoing investigations into drug cases involving Malnadu Restaurant and Mahindra University. The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau found that he operated from abroad using two phone numbers and worked with courier offices frequently used by Nigerian handlers.
Investigators also discovered that items bought on Flipkart were used to hide the drugs, exposing a wider supply chain involving several Nigerians in Delhi.
The arrest follows a major crackdown in which over 50 Nigerians were detained for alleged visa overstaying in operations involving Telangana’s Eagle Force, the NCB, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, and Noida Police.
All suspects wanted by Telangana authorities have been handed over for further investigation. This case adds to a series of recent arrests of Nigerians in India for offences including overstaying, drug trafficking, robbery, and suspected murder.
