According to SaharaReporters, the incident occurred on Friday morning when armed insurgents attacked a local fish market and abducted five residents around 7 a.m. while they were purchasing fresh fish.

A security expert, Zagazola Makama, identified the victims as Alhaji Sani Boyi, Bullama Dan Umaru, Baba Inusa, Abubakar Jan Boris, and Mallam Shaibu. The insurgents reportedly took them to an unknown location, causing panic among traders and residents in the fishing community, which has frequently been targeted by insurgents operating around the Lake Chad area.

Troops from Operation HADIN KAI under Sector 3, along with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, responded promptly to distress calls from residents. Security sources confirmed that intelligence has been gathered regarding the movement of the attackers and the possible whereabouts of the abducted civilians.

Despite ongoing military operations, Doro Baga and surrounding communities remain vulnerable to attacks and abductions by Boko Haram and ISWAP, who continue to target fishermen, farmers, and traders. Security forces are actively pursuing the perpetrators to secure the release of the victims.
