Sanaa, Yemen — Israel carried out airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and the northern province of al-Jawf on Wednesday, in the latest escalation of its year-long confrontation with Houthi militants.
Houthi media reported that several people were killed or injured in the attacks, though casualty figures remain unclear.

According to the Israeli military, the strikes targeted Houthi military camps, the group’s propaganda headquarters, a defence ministry site, and a fuel storage facility. Residents in Sanaa said one strike hit a hideout between two mountains believed to serve as a Houthi command and control hub.
The raids come just days after a major Israeli strike on August 30 that killed the prime minister of the Houthi-run government along with several ministers — the first time top officials had been directly targeted.

Israel said the latest attacks were a direct response to Houthi missile and drone launches aimed at Israeli territory. Most of those projectiles have been intercepted, but the Houthis — aligned with Iran — have also disrupted Red Sea shipping, claiming solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza war.
The confrontation has widened regional tensions, with Israel increasingly striking Houthi-controlled areas, including the strategic Hodeidah port, as both sides intensify their campaigns.
