Senator Ned Nwoko has stated that his wife, actress Regina Daniels, must undergo rehabilitation to address alleged drug addiction and safeguard her health and that of their children.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, Nwoko said he made the decision after several medical tests revealed alarming toxicology results.
According to him, Regina’s calm personality had recently changed, and she began exhibiting violent and destructive behaviour alongside recurring health crises.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me but for our children. We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, so I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother,” Nwoko said.
He added that sending her to a rehabilitation centre would prevent further access to drugs while ensuring proper medical supervision.
“Many people have died of drug overdose. On three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from an overdose,” he stated.
The senator presented toxicology reports showing multiple substances in her system and said anyone discouraging her from rehabilitation was working against her recovery.
“If her mother and those supporting her really want to prove me wrong, let them take her to any toxicologist of their choice, even outside Nigeria — I will pay,” he added.
Nwoko blamed Regina’s siblings and friends for influencing her negatively, claiming they supplied her with drugs despite knowing she was trying to recover.
“Her brother Sammy and his friends have been a bad influence. Every time progress was made, they sabotaged it by smuggling in drugs,” he said.
He also criticised Regina’s mother for claiming that his late son died of drug overdose, describing the statement as false and cruel.
The controversy between the couple became public after Regina Daniels accused Nwoko of physical abuse, a claim he denied, saying her behaviour was a result of substance use.
