Joe Igbokwe Warns FG Against Releasing Nnamdi Kanu, Says IPOB Leader ‘Does Not Deserve Pardon’

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe has cautioned the Federal Government against yielding to public pressure to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Igbokwe, known for his strong criticism of the separatist movement, made his stance clear in a series of Facebook posts on Thursday. He described Kanu as a “terrorist” who allegedly led many of his followers into acts of violence that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Igbo people.

According to Igbokwe, anyone who could allegedly instigate such destruction against his own people should not be considered for pardon or clemency.

“A man who led Igbo young men and women to kill our people in 10 years, burnt our homes, stole our wives, closed our markets and businesses, etc., does not deserve pity or pardon,” Igbokwe wrote.

Reacting to reports from Kanu’s legal team that the IPOB leader is seriously ill and should be released on health grounds, Igbokwe dismissed the claim, insisting that Kanu remains in good health.

“Nnamdi Kanu is 110% okay. Let us not deceive ourselves. He killed our people in thousands and destroyed businesses. They are saying he is sick—he is not sick at all. All these claims about his health are lies from the pit of hell,” he stated.

The APC stalwart also addressed the planned #FreeNnamdiKanu protest spearheaded by activist Omoyele Sowore, scheduled for October 20, warning that such a movement would dishonor the memory of those allegedly killed under Kanu’s influence.

“Those who know Sowore should tell him not to march and spit on the graves of thousands of Igbos killed on Nnamdi Kanu’s instructions from 2015 to 2025. The colossal damage in Lagos is still there,” Igbokwe cautioned.

He concluded by emphasizing that Kanu should only receive fair legal treatment as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution but must face justice for his alleged crimes.

“Kanu deserves no pity, only the fair treatment our constitution guarantees, so he can face justice for every crime he’s accused of. The rule of law must never be selective. He incited violence against Nigeria and Nigerians, and he must answer for it,” Igbokwe stressed.
