#JUST IN: After CBN’s Intervention, Emirates Restores Flight Operations To Nigeria

Emirates Airlines has restored its flight operations to Nigeria’s commercial capital of Lagos.

According to Headlinenews.news investigative reports, this was contained in an email sent by the company obtained on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

This is coming days after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) released the sum of N108bn ($265 million ) to foreign airlines that threatened to suspend operations in Nigeria over trapped funds.

Recall, on August 18, 2022, the foreign airline announced plans to stop flight operations in and out of Nigeria over its N36.1bn ($85bn) revenue trapped with the federal government.

According to the statement, the decision followed the difficulty experienced in getting its $85 million revenue trapped within Nigeria

This was after the airline had reduced it flight operations to Nigeria last month as a means of managing it business in the country.

It is said that at least, $600 million from over 20 foreign airlines has been blocked in Nigeria since the beginning of the year.

However, in its announcement to reinstate the suspension said; “We are pleased to inform you that effective from 11th September 2022, we will reinstate operations of our flights.

“Inbound flights from Dubai to Lagos (EK783) and outbound flights from Lagos to Dubai (EK784) will recommence from Sunday, 11th September 2022.

“Lagos flights after 30th September 2022 will be advised in due course,” it said.
