JUST IN: EFCC chairman spotted as Tinubu summons ex-Rivers Administrator Ibas to Aso Rock

Ahmed Tinubu summoned the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, to Aso Rock in Abuja.

According to Channels TV, Ibas arrived at the State House at about 5:50 pm. The reason for his meeting with the President was not immediately clear, though his brief six-month stewardship of Rivers State remains under scrutiny.

Ibas was appointed by President Tinubu on March 18 after the declaration of a state of emergency in the oil-rich state, following an unending power tussle between former Governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara. Both chambers of the National Assembly endorsed the President’s action, which suspended Fubara, his deputy, and the House of Assembly.

Ibas exited office last week as Fubara returned to power, but questions linger over the N254.37 billion Rivers State received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between March and August 2025. The state assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, has already moved to probe expenditures under Ibas’ watch, including spending from the consolidated revenue fund and contract awards.

Also sighted at the Villa on Wednesday was Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, though it remains unclear if his presence—and that of Olukoyede—was connected to Rivers’ affairs.
