#Just In! Inauguration Day Truncation: It is Treasonable To Protest On Inauguration Day, Death Sentence Punishment (Video).

Bulama Bukarti, a senior analyst at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, has given his opinion on the Department of State Service’s (DSS) warning about plans to disrupt the inauguration process of the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and install an interim government.

Speaking in an interview with Channel Television, monitored by Headlinenews.news Correspondent, Bukarti stated that any protest aimed at disrupting the inauguration process would be seen as treason, which carries the death penalty.

Bukarti acknowledged that the DSS is not known for making careless statements and believes that they must have concrete evidence that some individuals are planning to cause chaos in Nigeria. He noted that peaceful and orderly protests are constitutionally accepted but that violent protests are illegal. In particular, protests aimed at disrupting an inauguration process constitute treason, which is punishable by death.

Hear him: “We all know protests are meant to be peaceful, sensible, and orderly, which is constitutionally accepted; however, when a protest becomes violent, it becomes completely illegal, and when the violence is intended to disrupt an inauguration process, it becomes treason, which carries the death penalty”.

He also commented on the issue of court orders to stop the inauguration process. According to Bukarti, the constitution is clear that no court can issue an injunction to stop an inauguration. However, he lamented that some judges and courts in Nigeria have issued ex parte orders without consulting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders. Bukarti urged the judiciary to keep the interests of the country in mind and not issue orders that could disrupt the inauguration process.
