Olubadan of Ibadan, Senator Lekan Balogun Ali-Iwo, Okunmade II has prayed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, according to headlinenews.news reports.
The 42nd Olubadan made this statement on Friday while receiving Vice President in his palace at Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
In a video obtained by Headlinenews.news of Osinbajo’s courtesy visit to Olubadan, the monarch said the VP is a wonderful person and prayed that God grant him what he is looking for.
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on 14 April.
The VP’s declaration was coming days after his erstwhile boss and APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu declared his intention to succeed Buhari in 2023. The situation which have generated many controversies across all works of life. Some quarters claimed Osinbajo suppose to shield his presidential ambition knowing fully well that Tinubu has declared his intention. Others opined that, the VP has the right to vote and be voted for as constitution demands.
Others who have shown interest to become the president of Nigeria in 2023 are former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; former senate president, Bukola Saraki; former Kano president, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, among others.
Oba Lekan Balogun said: “In God’s name, you will be President of Nigeria,” to which the Balogun of Ibadan added, “We are all with you”.
“Vice President Osinbajo, you are a wonderful human being, you are a wonderful person, may Allah grant you access to what you have in mind,” he said.

Osinbajo’s visit to Ibadan is the beginning of his second round nationwide consultation ahead of the presidential primary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) slated for June 1, 2022, where he is expected to meet with more stakeholders and APC delegates in all the local governments across the country.
Recall that earlier in the week, former Kano State Governor and senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Senator Kabiru Gaya, was appointed as the Chairman of The Progressive Project (TPP), a national presidential campaign body for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The VP after the meeting with Olubadan, proceeded to a meeting with the APC stakeholders in Oyo State for consultations.
He has before now begun consultations with party members, stakeholders and Nigerians across the country. He has met with the APC governors forum, APC Senate Caucus and the House of Representative Caucus.
