Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of Fuji music icon K1 De Ultimate, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
The declaration was made on March 17, 2026, via her Instagram page, where she shared her ambition to represent Surulere Constituency II under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dami Marshal, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism, Arts and Culture to the Lagos State Governor, said her decision to step into elective politics is driven by a desire to serve and amplify the voice of young people.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote. “I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead.”
Highlighting her 12 years of legal experience, she noted that her background has equipped her with a strong understanding of governance, justice, and the needs of the people. She also pledged to represent the interests of youths, stressing that she understands their challenges and aspirations.
“I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House. I listen to the youths because I am one of you, and I understand what we truly need. That is exactly why I’m here to serve,” she added.
Her announcement has since generated mixed reactions online. While some supporters welcomed her ambition and expressed readiness to join her campaign, others questioned her roots and connection to the constituency she seeks to represent.
Despite the criticisms, Marshal appears determined to push forward with her political ambition, positioning herself as a candidate focused on competence, progress, and youth representation.
