A prominent Kaduna monarch, Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, has passed away after collapsing while attending an event with the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
The incident occurred at the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Kofar Gayan, Zaria, where he was later pronounced dead.
Official Confirmation
The Media and Publicity Officer of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, confirmed the tragic event in an official statement:
“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate. He was attending a program alongside His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, when he passed away.”
Burial and Tributes
The late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau was buried the same evening at Rimin Dodo, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Expressing his condolences, the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, described the passing as “the will of Allah,” adding that “death is inevitable and can come at any destined time.”
He further praised the late monarch for his dedication, hard work, and religious commitment, noting that his absence will be deeply felt within the Emirate.
The Emir prayed for eternal rest for the departed traditional leader.
