President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday evening directed federal and state agencies to work closely in providing immediate support to communities affected by the recent terrorist attack in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a post on his verified X account, @officialABAT, the President emphasized that the collaboration is also intended to ensure that those responsible for the attack are apprehended and brought to justice.

“Today, I met with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, to be briefed on the incident in Kaiama LGA. I have further directed close coordination between federal and state agencies to provide immediate relief to the affected community and to ensure the perpetrators are pursued and brought to justice,” Tinubu said.
Condemning the attack in strong terms, the President described the gunmen as heartless for targeting defenseless villagers.
“This cowardly and barbaric attack offends our humanity, our faith, and the shared values of our nation. These individuals chose soft targets in a doomed campaign of terror,” he said.

President Tinubu recalled that he had previously ordered the urgent deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama following the “horrific attack on innocent villagers in Worro.” The military unit will lead Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at checking terrorist activities and protecting vulnerable communities.
“The new military command will spearhead Operation Savannah Shield to counter these barbaric terrorists and safeguard defenceless communities,” he added.
The President also highlighted that the victims were reportedly killed for refusing forced indoctrination, commending their stance against extremist ideology.
“It is commendable that community members, even though Muslims, rejected a perverse belief that promotes violence over peace. Nigeria will never surrender its people to terrorism disguised as faith,” Tinubu declared.

Assuring Nigerians that justice will prevail, the President stated, “They will not go scot-free.” He offered prayers for the victims and condolences to their families while reaffirming the Federal Government’s support for Kwara State.
“I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and extend my deepest sympathies to the families who lost loved ones. The Federal Government stands with the people and the government of Kwara State. We will protect our communities, uphold our values, and defeat those who seek to divide us through terror,” he said.
