Tension erupted in Kano State as residents blocked major roads and set tyres on fire outside a local police station on Monday.
The protest took place in the Ƙofar Ruwa area, where angry residents demanded that police hand over recently arrested suspected bandits, insisting they wanted to deal with the suspects themselves.

A video published by Sahara Reporters shows thick black smoke rising from burning tyres scattered across the road, while residents voiced outrage over reports that suspected kidnappers had been brought into the station.
The disturbance prompted police officers to swiftly move into the area to restore order and prevent the situation from escalating into violence.
According to eyewitnesses, the crowd became furious after discovering that the alleged criminals were being held inside the police facility.

In the circulating video, a man is heard saying, “They brought kidnappers to Ƙofar Ruwa. People vowed they would drag them out and kill them. That’s why the police blocked the road with tyres.”
Security operatives were described as responding with urgency, extinguishing the flames and dispersing the crowd to avert mob action.
As of the time this report was filed, calm had been partially restored, though residents remained tense.

Police authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the identities of the suspects or the events that triggered the unrest.
The incident comes shortly after bandits attacked Unguwar Tsamiya in Faruruwa village and the Dabawa community in Shanono Local Government Area, leaving two people injured and abducting at least 25 residents on Sunday night.

The attacks occurred less than a day after another raid on Yan Kamaye in Tsanyawa LGA, near the Katsina border.
Security analyst Bakatsine also shared details of the incidents on X on Monday, confirming the attacks and the number of abducted victims.
