Kebbi State Denies Reports of Hiring Chinese Security Firm to Combat Banditry

The Kebbi State Government has refuted claims that it engaged G-Safety, a Chinese security company, to tackle banditry and other crimes in the state. Media reports on Wednesday suggested Governor Nasir Idris met with the firm at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi to discuss partnerships in intelligence sharing, capacity building, and technological support for security operations.

In a statement on Friday, October 17, 2025, Chief Press Secretary Ahmed Idris dismissed the reports as false and misleading, clarifying that no agreement or contract exists with any foreign security firm. The government remains committed to working with Nigerian security agencies, including the Armed Forces and Police, to ensure peace and safety across the state.

The statement urged the public and media to verify information through official channels to avoid spreading unverified claims. Since taking office, Governor Idris has prioritized security, supporting military and community-based initiatives to restore peace in troubled areas of Kebbi State.
