King Charles III has been named the new patron of a Jewish charity in the aftermath of a recent arson attack targeting Jewish ambulances in Golders Green.
The announcement was made during a charity dinner, where Lord Finkelstein, a trustee of the Community Security Trust, described the development as uplifting news for the Jewish community. He emphasized unity and resilience, noting that British Jews remain steadfast despite challenges.
The decision follows a firebombing incident involving four ambulances belonging to Hatzola in North London. Addressing the attack, Lord Finkelstein stressed the importance of solidarity, highlighting both internal community strength and external support.
Also present at the event was Shabana Mahmood, who spoke about ongoing efforts to combat antisemitism. She outlined government measures, including an increase in funding for the Jewish Community Protective Security Grant to £28 million.
Several political figures attended the gathering, including Wes Streeting and James Cleverly, showing cross-party support for the community.
