The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has released the timetable for the 2026 Local Government election. Chairman Mamman Nda-Eri announced the schedule during a stakeholders’ meeting on October 24, 2025, in Lokoja, aligning with Section 197(1)(b) and Paragraph 3 of Part 2 of the Third Schedule to the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the Electoral Act 2022.
The timetable sets campaign periods from May 20 to October 15, 2026. Nda-Eri noted that the dates are subject to change and urged political parties and stakeholders to take note. Emmanuel Abah, a former chairmanship aspirant in Olamaboro LGA, called for a transparent and credible electoral process to ensure fairness in the 2026 election.
