Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have rescued three victims, including a mother and her six-month-old baby, following a kidnapping incident in the Igbonla community.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday, November 2, 2025, involved a group of armed men who stormed a residential building, shooting sporadically before abducting several occupants.

According to a statement by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the command, the prompt response of police officers, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, led to the rescue of Fatima Wasiu, Kudus Wasiu, and Fatima’s infant daughter.

Two other victims — Wasiu Salihu and Abdullahi Sefiu — remain in captivity as police intensify efforts to secure their release and apprehend the kidnappers.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, commended the rescue team for their swift and professional action, urging residents to continue sharing timely intelligence with security agencies to aid crime prevention

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
