Kwara State Under Siege: Act Now to Save Lives

Kwara, once peaceful, is now gripped by killings, kidnappings, and mass displacement. Armed groups terrorize rural communities, leaving families bereaved and villages deserted.

50+ killed in recent weeks

70+ kidnapped with heavy ransom demands

300+ households displaced from ancestral homes

Farms destroyed, threatening food security

This is the height of insecurity. Communities are crying out for help.

We call on the Federal Government, Kwara State Government, Nigerian Army, Police, and all security agencies to act immediately:

Deploy troops and mobile police to protect communities

Provide urgent food, medical, and shelter aid to displaced families

Support local vigilantes with training and equipment

Investigate extra-judicial killings to restore trust

Current Situation

Deaths: At least 30–50 lives lost in recent attacks.

Kidnappings: Over 70 residents abducted, with ransom demands crippling families.

Displacement: More than 300 households forced from their homes.

Economic Losses: Farms destroyed, harvests abandoned, and local markets destabilized.

Impact

Humanitarian: Families in displacement camps lack food, shelter, and medical care.

Economic: Agriculture, Kwara’s lifeline, is collapsing under violent disruption.

Security: Armed groups are expanding, while local vigilantes are overwhelmed.

Urgent Recommendations

1. Deploy Security Forces: Army and Police must launch rapid-response operations to protect vulnerable communities.

2. Humanitarian Relief: NEMA and state agencies to provide food, medical aid, and shelter.

3. Community Protection: Equip and integrate local vigilantes into official security efforts.

4. Accountability: Investigate extra-judicial killings to rebuild trust.

Kwara is at breaking point. The federal and state governments, alongside the Nigerian Army and security agencies, must act swiftly to save lives, restore peace, and protect the future of the state.

In Kwara State, Bandits killed scores of innocent people in the communities, including Baale in Oke Ode, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State this sunday morning 28th September 2025.

There is need for urgent security intervention and first responders please.
