Lagos APC Leaders Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Re-Election

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027. The decision was made during the APC Stakeholders Forum 2025 held on Tuesday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, attended by key figures including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Fashola (SAN) and Akinwunmi Ambode, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, his wife Oluremi, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, and various APC National and State Working Committee members, lawmakers, appointees, council chairmen, and traditional, religious, women, youth, and student leaders.

The motion to support Tinubu’s re-election was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Obasa, who highlighted Tinubu’s achievements over the past two years. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Tinubu, a former Lagos governor, has fulfilled many campaign promises, stating, “All our stakeholders have concluded that President Tinubu should return in 2027.” He expressed confidence that this message would reach Aso Rock and resonate nationwide.

Deputy Governor Hamzat stressed the importance of continuity, praising Tinubu’s courageous and visionary leadership for driving national transformation through reforms focused on renewed hope, governance, and economic recovery. He urged APC members to mobilize at the grassroots to promote good governance and unity.

Fashola, in a lecture on voter apathy, encouraged party members to engage youths and boost voter turnout, noting the challenges opposition parties face in forming a merger like the APC’s. He expressed optimism, stating, “We are in a season of renewed hope for our party and programs.”

The Forum of APC Local Government Party Chairmen in the South-West also declared support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid during a quarterly meeting in Abeokuta, vowing to ensure a landslide victory and reclaim Oyo and Osun states from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. Meanwhile, opposition parties, including a Labour Party faction loyal to Peter Obi and Abia Governor Alex Otti, are strategizing for 2027, with LP’s Interim National Publicity Secretary Tony Akeni urging former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to support Obi to defeat Tinubu, claiming he would be “the easiest incumbent to defeat” if opposition unites.
