The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, on Monday formally decorated newly promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service in line with the Nigerian Police Force’s objectives.

Speaking at the ceremony at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Jimoh described the promotions as a recognition of merit, dedication, and outstanding performance, emphasizing that the elevation comes with increased responsibility.
“This advancement reflects your hard work and commitment to duty. I expect you to remain steadfast in serving the police institution and the nation with integrity,” he said.

The commissioner also commended Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for approving the promotion of 1,848 inspectors nationwide to the rank of ASP. He assured that the newly promoted officers would be deployed across critical operational and administrative units to strengthen policing effectiveness and improve public service delivery throughout Lagos State.

Jimoh highlighted that the rank carries heightened expectations, urging the officers to demonstrate leadership, efficiency, discipline, and teamwork within the command.
“Our collective goal is enhanced service delivery and stronger protection of lives and property, especially for the most vulnerable members of society,” he said.

The commissioner added that the promotions not only acknowledge past contributions but also reflect confidence in the officers’ capacity to drive policing reforms and uphold professionalism in Lagos State.
Several newly promoted ASPs, speaking after the ceremony, expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged renewed dedication to duty. One officer noted that the promotion comes with greater responsibility and vowed to exceed expectations in both operational and administrative roles. Others described the advancement as a privilege and an opportunity to positively impact the force, collectively assuring the police leadership that they would uphold core values, enhance public trust, and contribute to improved security.
