Lagos CP Orders Investigation into Student Tear-gassing, Ikorodu Crash Involving Police

The Lagos State Police Command has opened investigations into two separate incidents trending on social media — one involving police officers tear-gassing students in Alakuko and another, a road crash in Ikorodu that left two people injured.

In a statement released on its official X handle (@LagosPoliceNG) on Friday, the command confirmed that Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead a thorough probe into both matters.

CP Jimoh condemned the Alakuko incident, calling the officers’ actions “unprofessional” and warning that the command would not tolerate abuse of power or overzealous conduct from its personnel.

On the Ikorodu crash, he urged those affected or their representatives to come forward with useful information to aid investigations and guarantee justice.

The police command further assured Lagos residents that the process would be handled with full transparency and that any officer found guilty would be held accountable through appropriate disciplinary measures.
