The Lagos State Government has announced a one-week public review period for the draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan (2024-2044), allowing residents and stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed 20-year development framework.
The consultation will run from February 26 to March 4, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, at designated locations across the state. The initiative aims to encourage public participation in shaping the final plan, which focuses on infrastructure, land use, and urban planning for the fast-growing Ibeju-Lekki district.
Encouraging Community Participation
Lagos Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, emphasized that the consultation aligns with the state’s commitment to citizen engagement and international best practices in urban planning.
“This public review process ensures that the final plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the community while fostering ownership and seamless implementation,” Olumide stated in a release by the ministry’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi.
