The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, Lagos, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, has passed away.
Ngbaronye died on October 24, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., while undergoing surgery for fibroid treatment at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Surulere.
Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed her death, describing her as a disciplined and dedicated officer known for her professionalism, integrity, and humane approach to policing.
“The Command mourns the loss of a truly upright officer whose service helped strengthen police–community relations,” Adebisi said.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reached out to Ngbaronye’s family to express condolences and assure them of the Command’s support. Burial arrangements will be announced.
