#Lagos Police Uncover Illegal Cybercrime Training School

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an illegal cybercrime training center, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo School,” in the Iju area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen. Authorities arrested four principal suspects along with six trainees, including a minor identified as Minachi Udochukwu.

According to Hundeyin, preliminary investigations revealed that the principal suspects recruited trainees from Anambra State, engaged them in internet fraud, and confiscated their earnings.

The four arrested masterminds behind the illicit operation are Chibuike Ihejika, 23; Stanley Ihejika, 22; Obiora Oyediba, 26; and Emmanuel Oyedibe, 25. The six suspected trainees undergoing cybercrime and fraud training include Okorie Henry, Otoh Chisom, 20; Okeke Kwufrochikwu, 26; Uchenna Obeji, 26; Minachi Udochukwu, 12; and Chinedu Ukachukwu, 23.

Investigations further revealed that the principal suspects lured their trainees from Anambra State under false pretenses, compelling them to commit internet fraud and other related crimes. The suspects then seized the proceeds from these illicit activities, maintaining control over the operation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to dismantle the network and ensure that all individuals involved face justice.
