#Lagos Taskforce Seizes 139 Motorcycles for Violating Okada Ban

The Lagos State Taskforce has impounded 139 motorcycles in its latest enforcement drive against commercial motorcyclists operating in restricted areas of the state.

Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the agency’s spokesperson, Raheem Gbadeyan. He said the operation was carried out in locations including Alakija, Iyana-Iba, Abule-Ado, Agric Bus Stop, and the Ojo Barracks axis.

Akerele emphasized that the enforcement is part of the government’s zero-tolerance stance on violations of the Okada ban, which was implemented to safeguard public safety.

“The restriction on Okada in designated areas is for the safety of all Lagosians. Operators who defy the ban and put lives at risk will face legal consequences,” he said.

He lamented that despite ongoing sensitization campaigns, some riders continue to flout the law. He confirmed that the impounded motorcycles will remain confiscated and legal action will be pursued against the violators.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to public safety under the THEMES Plus Agenda, Akerele urged motorcycle operators to comply with regulations and called on residents to support enforcement efforts by avoiding illegal operators and reporting violations.

Gbadeyan also quoted the chairman as assuring that patrols and clampdowns will persist across the state, especially in areas notorious for non-compliance.
