Lagos to Host Inaugural Muslim Economic Summit in January 2026

The maiden edition of the Muslim Economic Summit (MES 1.0) has been scheduled to hold at the University of Lagos DIL Main Auditorium from January 17 to 18, 2026.

With the theme “Faith, Finance & the Future: Empowering Youths, Women & Businesses for a Prosperous Future,” the summit seeks to promote economic empowerment, ethical entrepreneurship, and innovation anchored on faith-based principles.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the President of the Muassasat Nasrul IIm Wa Da’awat Foundation and chair of the organising committee, Alhaji Ibraheem Adigun, said the event aims to raise a new generation of Muslim entrepreneurs and professionals capable of competing globally while upholding Islamic values.

“The Muslim Economic Summit is about building a future where no one is left behind. We are empowering youth, women, and business owners to achieve financial independence while staying true to Islamic ethics,” Adigun stated.

He revealed that a key feature of the summit will be a Pre-Summit Empowerment Training Programme, which targets over 1,000 participants in areas such as digital marketing, solar installation, mini-import/export, and urban farming. Participants will receive certificates during the event.

The Chief Executive Officer of Modo Ante Consulting, the summit’s management partner, described the initiative as “a model of faith-driven empowerment” that bridges belief and innovation.

“MES 1.0 is where faith meets practical empowerment. It provides skills, networks, and resources to help participants build sustainable livelihoods,” said Okupe.

The two-day event will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, plenary sessions, certificate presentations, and a trade fair showcasing halal products and services.

A major highlight will be the launch of a Sustainable Waqf Fund, designed to finance future empowerment and development initiatives within the Muslim community.

Participation in the summit is free but requires registration. The organisers confirmed that attendance is open to both Muslims and non-Muslims — including professionals, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and government representatives — with virtual participation also available via the MES online platform.
