LG Elections: Adeniji Kazeem SAN Chairs APC Screening Appeal Committee in Lagos

LG Polls: Former Lagos Attorney General Adeniji Kazeem SAN Chairs APC Screening Appeal Committee

By HeadlineNews.News – Lagos | May 2025

In preparation for the forthcoming Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) elections in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a Screening Appeal Committee to review complaints and grievances arising from its recent candidate screening exercise.

The party has named former Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prince Adeniji Kazeem (SAN), as Chairman of the five-member committee. Kazeem, a respected legal luminary and seasoned public servant, brings years of legal and political experience to the role, positioning the committee to ensure transparency, fairness, and internal democracy within the party’s selection process.

The committee is mandated to examine petitions and disputes submitted by aspirants who participated in the just-concluded screening conducted by the APC for aspirants vying for chairmanship and councillorship seats across Lagos’ 57 LGAs and LCDAs.

Joining Kazeem on the panel are prominent party stakeholders:

Hon. Abdul Wahab Olumuyiwa Jimoh, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who will serve as Secretary;

Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, Esq., a former Secretary of the Lagos APC;

Hon. Kayode Oseni, pioneer Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA;

and Barr. Olawale Saliu, a respected legal practitioner and party loyalist.

Party sources revealed that the committee has been charged with concluding its work swiftly to enable the APC proceed with the publication of its final list of candidates in compliance with Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) timelines.

This development underscores the APC’s effort to manage internal disagreements with decorum and due process as it works toward presenting credible, electable candidates who will uphold the party’s grassroots development agenda under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Observers say the caliber of those appointed reflects the party’s desire to maintain discipline and cohesion ahead of the critical 2025 council elections, widely seen as a foundational test ahead of the 2027 general elections.
