The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Maritime, AIG Chinedu Oko, and the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Toyin Agbaminoja, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the agency’s Victoria Island headquarters in Lagos on Monday, November 17, 2025.

The visit aimed to reinforce collaboration between the police and NIMASA to enhance maritime security, improve port operations, and strengthen inter-agency coordination in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
AIG Oko emphasized the importance of a unified security approach to protect critical maritime infrastructure and acknowledged NIMASA’s key role in safety regulation, particularly through its ongoing Deep Blue Project. He said the engagement signals intensified cooperation to address security challenges at Nigerian ports and safeguard coastal waters and port facilities.

CP Toyin Agbaminoja reaffirmed the Ports Authority Police’s commitment to securing major ports, including Apapa, Tin Can Island, Lekki Deep Sea, Kirikiri, and Ikorodu terminals. He expressed eagerness to deepen collaboration with NIMASA to combat maritime crimes and facilitate trade.

Dr. Mobereola welcomed the partnership, highlighting the need for intelligence sharing, joint operations, and maritime domain awareness to maintain Nigeria’s economic stability and global maritime standing. Both parties agreed on continuous strategic coordination to strengthen national maritime security.
