The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has raised fresh concerns over what he described as an impending coordinated terrorist attack targeting the South-West, North-Central and South-South regions.

Speaking at a press conference at Oodua House in Ikeja, Lagos, Adams said intelligence at his disposal indicates that militant groups are gradually positioning themselves around these regions and may be awaiting a “signal” from foreign sponsors to launch widespread attacks.

He warned that more than 60 million Yoruba people could be at risk if urgent and decisive action is not taken. According to him, visible signs of infiltration and security breaches have been observed across several states, including Kogi, Kwara, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, and parts of Edo and Delta.

Adams said the pattern suggests a deliberate and coordinated movement that security agencies must not ignore.
“Merchants of death have surrounded the 60 million inhabitants of this geographical space,” he said. “These bloodthirsty elements do not have good intentions for the peace-loving people of our region. They are simply waiting for the signal from their foreign sponsors to invade, kill mercilessly and seize ancestral lands.”

He also warned that intelligence reports indicate terrorists may soon shift from forest hideouts into major urban centres, noting that mobilization efforts to infiltrate towns and cities are already underway.
Adams urged the government and security agencies to act swiftly to prevent what he described as a looming large-scale security crisis.
