MEXICO’S MOST WANTED DRUG LORD, ‘EL MENCHO’, KILLED IN MILITARY OPERATION

Mexican authorities have reportedly killed Nemesio Oseguera, also known as “El Mencho,” the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and one of the most wanted men in both Mexico and the United States, with a bounty of $15 million on his head.

Oseguera is among the highest-profile drug figures taken down since the arrests of Sinaloa cartel leaders Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and Ismael Zambada, who are currently serving sentences in the US.

Following the operation, cartel members set fire to vehicles and blocked roads in Jalisco, a tactic often used to slow down security forces pursuing high-value targets. The unrest also spread to Michoacán, where the CJNG maintains a strong presence.

Formed in 2009, the CJNG has grown into one of Mexico’s most violent drug trafficking organizations. The US Justice Department has classified it as a terrorist organization, accusing it of trafficking cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl across the border into the United States.
