The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris (fnipr), has urged information managers in All Progressives Congress (APC)-led states to strengthen efforts in communicating the achievements and opportunities of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the Nigerian public.
Speaking on Thursday during the Conference of Commissioners for Information in APC States, organized by the Progressive Governors’ Forum and held in Minna, Niger State, Idris emphasized the importance of effective messaging in promoting the administration’s reforms and programs.
Highlighting the steady implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Eight-Point Renewed Hope Agenda, Idris described it as a comprehensive roadmap for economic revitalization, national development, and inclusive growth. He noted that despite challenges, the administration remains disciplined and committed to policies aimed at enhancing the welfare of Nigerians.
He cited the removal of fuel subsidy as a “painful but necessary reform” that has reduced economic leakages and redirected resources toward critical infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway and the Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway. He also mentioned significant investments in social services and increased monthly allocations to states, which have enabled impactful initiatives in education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Idris urged commissioners to highlight key initiatives such as the Presidential Conditional Grant and Loan Scheme, which has already supported over 900,000 Nigerians. He reaffirmed the Federal Ministry’s dedication to enhancing state-level communication efforts, pointing to upgrades in public information infrastructure and national awareness campaigns.
Concluding his address, Idris encouraged the commissioners to return to their states “with renewed energy, armed with facts, stories, and strategies,” to ensure that citizens are fully informed and able to benefit from the Renewed Hope Agenda. He reiterated the administration’s confidence in the Nigerian people and its determination to fulfill its promises.
