Prayer for the New Month
Scripture Anchor:
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” — Psalm 23:1–3
“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” — Psalm 121:7–8
The Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for bringing us into this new month by Your mercy and grace. Lord, as it is written in Deuteronomy 28:8, command Your blessings upon the lives of all who receive this prayer. Let their storehouses never run dry, and may everything they lay their hands upon prosper in Jesus’ name.
Father, release Your miracles into their lives — the kind that will make them testify of Your greatness before the end of this month. Surround them with Your divine protection; let no evil come near their dwelling. Just as You shut the mouth of lions for Daniel, silence every adversary waiting to devour their blessings.
Grant them guidance in every decision, favor before men and women, unmerited grace in their daily walk, and abundant blessings that add no sorrow. Lord, order their steps on the path of greatness, and let this month mark the beginning of open doors, supernatural breakthroughs, and unending joy.
We decree that by the close of this month, their testimony shall be loud, and Your holy name shall be glorified in their lives.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
May this new month usher in peace, favor, joy, and God’s miracle-working power over your life. Your testimony will not be delayed — it shall come speedily.
BRINGING YOUR QUESTIONS TO GOD
“How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? forever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”
Psalm 13:1-6 KJV
Blessed of the Lord, everyone understands what it is to be desperate, but not everyone understands or know where to turn to for genuine help. As such people asked questions as to when, or how long, in order to get respite to their situation when wearied, because of life challenges that never seem to cease.
Brethren, David in the above scriptural passage expressed himself through; Invocation, Lament, Request, Trust, and Praise. He made an appeal for help to an authority: “How long LORD?” (Verse 1). David felt forgotten, forsaken, and defeated, and as such lamented “How long?” (verses 1-2). In verse two, he asks, “How long must I wrestle with my thoughts?” Psalms that include lament, like this one, implicitly give us permission to worshipfully come to the Lord with questions of our own.
David put his requests to the Lord as he demands an answer from God “lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.” (verse 3). After all, what better person to talk to during prolonged times of stress and strain than God? We can bring our struggles with illness, grief, the waywardness of a loved one, and relational difficulties to Him.
Worship need not stop when we have questions. The sovereign God of heaven welcomes us to bring our worry-filled questions to Him. And perhaps, like David, in due time our questions will be transformed into petitions and expressions of trust and praise to the Lord (verses. 3-6).
The truth is that you do not have to stop worshiping when you have questions; you can worship God with your questions as you table your request. Shalom.
As you table your questions to the in prayer, I pray that He shall manifest Himself strong and mighty with testimony on your lips, in Jesus name Amen.
I pray that the Lord will strengthen you through your trying times and mercifully turn around your captivity, in Jesus name Amen.
