NAPTIP, OTHERS TO FORMALIZE DOMESTIC WORK.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has teamed up with the Nigerian Police Force, Keystone Bank, Transcorp Hilton Abuja, and several other institutions to transform Nigeria’s domestic and care-worker sector.

The nationwide initiative was officially unveiled on Friday at the National Women Centre in Abuja, according to a statement shared with Sunday PUNCH.

Chinenye Ogbonnaya, Founder and CEO of Coralworker.com, described the effort as part of a larger mission to formalize a labor sector that supports millions of Nigerian households.

Through this partnership, the coalition plans to roll out extensive training and awareness programs across multiple states. The initiative aims to equip domestic workers with vital skills in ethics, soft skills, first aid, mental health, and human rights protection.

Ogbonnaya stressed the urgency of coordinated action, pointing to ongoing challenges such as human trafficking, worker exploitation, and limited training opportunities.

“By providing structured support, this programme seeks to improve job security, productivity, and labour mobility for domestic workers,” she said.

She also highlighted the program’s role in helping workers transition into formal employment, enhancing their income potential while contributing to broader economic growth.

“This initiative is more than training—it’s a pathway for domestic workers to secure better employment, earn more, and strengthen Nigeria’s workforce,” Ogbonnaya added. Headline news
