As political activities gradually build toward Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, the National Patriots Movement has identified and endorsed a select group of aspirants in Kaduna State whom it considers credible, capable, and people-focused leaders.
The endorsement follows an extensive independent survey conducted by Headlinenews.news, which assessed emerging political aspirants across Kaduna State, particularly among youth leaders seeking elective office under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The survey evaluated aspirants based on integrity, track record of community service, communication ability, sincerity of purpose, leadership competence, educational background, and their capacity to contribute meaningfully to legislative governance.
Speaking on the outcome of the survey, Princess Gloria Adebajo-Fraser MFR President of the National Patriots Movement and Publisher of Headlinenews.news, noted that the movement is committed to promoting credible leaders who embody the reformist ideals of progressive governance.

According to her, the success of the APC in 2027 will depend significantly on presenting candidates who command the confidence of their communities and possess the vision to deliver the dividends of democracy.
Following the survey, three aspirants emerged with exceptional ratings and have now received formal recognition and endorsement by the National Patriots Movement.
Mahmoud Mamman Lagos — Kaduna State House of Assembly (Doka/Gabasawa)
Mahmoud Mamman Lagos has been widely recognised for his grassroots engagement and dedication to the development of his constituency.
The National Patriots Movement describes him as a focused and community-driven leader whose aspiration reflects the desire of the people of Doka/Gabasawa for purposeful representation in the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The Deputy Director-General of the Mamman Lagos Campaign and Councillor representing Gaji Ward in Kaduna North, Hon. Abubakar (Sir K), speaking on behalf of elected councillors across the constituency, expressed strong confidence in Mamman Lagos.
According to him, the aspirant possesses the competence, dedication, and inclusive leadership style necessary to represent the people effectively.

For his leadership promise and grassroots credibility, Mahmoud Mamman Lagos has been honoured with the National Patriots Award for Emerging Grassroots Legislative Leadership.
Hon. Abubakar Zukarnaini — Kaduna State House of Assembly (Kawo Constituency)
Honourable Abubakar Zukarnaini has also been recognised as a rising political figure with strong democratic values and a deep connection to his constituency.

She noted that leaders like Zukarnaini represent the kind of responsible and forward-looking leadership Nigeria urgently requires.

Sir Alhaji Adamu Kabir Umar — House of Representatives (Kaduna South Federal Constituency)
For the Kaduna South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, the National Patriots Movement has endorsed Sir Alhaji Adamu Kabir Umar, recognising him as a visionary aspirant committed to practical development.
Community stakeholders say Umar has already outlined a clear programme aimed at improving the living conditions of communities across the constituency.
His proposals include the provision of solar-powered street lighting, drilling of boreholes for access to clean water, and the expansion of basic infrastructure across underserved areas.
In addition to these interventions, Umar has pledged to actively sponsor people-centred legislation and use the platform of the National Assembly to attract development projects to Kaduna South.
In recognition of his development-driven agenda and commitment to grassroots welfare, he has been honoured with the National Patriots Award for Visionary Community Development Leadership.

A Call for Merit-Based Candidate Selection
The National Patriots Movement emphasised that credible leadership at both state and federal levels is essential for strengthening democratic governance and delivering meaningful progress to citizens.
Princess Adebajo-Fraser stated that the organisation would formally recommend these aspirants to the APC leadership at both state and national levels, urging party stakeholders to prioritise merit, credibility, and grassroots support when selecting candidates.
According to her, the future of Nigeria’s democracy depends on empowering leaders who combine integrity with competence and who remain genuinely accountable to the people they seek to serve.

DECLARATION OF INTENTION TO CONTEST AS MEMBER, STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, KAWO CONSTITUENCY, KADUNA STATE.
Let me first of all express my profound gratitude and appreciation to almighty God for sparing our lives to witness this great day of my official declaration, I will firstly thank all members of the executive committee (EX-CO), members of All Progressives Congress (APC), Friends and all people across Kawo Constituency for the kind support, despite your busy schedules.
This does not only demonstrate your individual commitments to our society, but also the value you attach to my relationship with you.
As you are already aware, the purpose for my personal decision is to formally declare my intention to contest for the position of member, state house of assembly, Kawo Constituency in the forthcoming ward & Local government Elections which is scheduled soon by the grace of Almighty.
Thankfully, through the will, grace and supremacy of the Almighty and the support I received from most of you, I have officially decided to inform you my personal decision.
I have equally enjoyed satisfactory relationships, “official as well as personal” with all of my colleagues that are contesting in same position, whose support I have even sought and I’m confident of securing this legislative bid.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as already indicated, I believe this is not for anything else, rather than the love and good intentions all of us have for our community, and using different approaches.
That is however the beauty of democracy and respect for diversity!
I was not only impressed by the overwhelming support I got from most of you, but by the fact that it came genuinely and prepared to put the past behind us in order to avoid sliding back into the mistakes we encountered in the legislation.
Over the years, Kawo Constituency like every other constituency has registered success stories as well as challenges and failings.
With a legacy of commitment to service, I will endeavour to lead my team to do the best we can, to overcome all challenges when you accord me the honour and opportunity to serve you as your member.
Ladies and gentlemen, once the electoral list has been finalized, my aspiration certified and campaigning activities legalized by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, our Campaign Team shall be presenting to you a comprehensive Manifesto, mapping out the path that we shall be treading on in our overriding desire to lead Kawo Constituency to the kind of positive change it deserves.

We must not mortgage the future of our constituency by aspiring leaders who have no solid achievement in the community.
In that vein, let me use this opportunity to urge all of you to judge all of us who will be contesting as well as divisional levels on our individual merits, our professional competencies, integrity and track records in the community, in general media practice and in harmony building, and not on unfounded allegations or vicious propaganda.
Therefore, let me conclude this declaration by cautioning all of us that we must no longer allow ourselves to become the victims of pettiness, prejudice and sycophancy as we tread the path to adding value and restoring unity and dignity to our constituency.
We must also no longer judge our aspirants for discrimination, regionalism or the weights of their pockets as in the past, but by the value they attach to our community, their individual capacities, character, motivation and commitment.
Long live Kawo Constituency,
Long live KADUNA STATE,
Long live The FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
Yours faithfully,
Hon Abubakar Zulkarnaini, March 2026
