Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled a major drug trafficking network following a series of seizures across Nigeria.

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, officers intercepted a large consignment of cocaine hidden inside the heads of imported dry stock fish (“Okporoko”). During the operation on March 19, 36-year-old Akputa Dickson Ejike was arrested with three jumbo bags containing 237 wraps of cocaine weighing 5.8 kilograms, bound for Delhi, India.

In Ekiti State, an 80-year-old man, Oke Samuel, was arrested for possessing 2.2 kilograms of skunk and 1.8 grams of methamphetamine. Meanwhile, two illicit shipments to the United Kingdom were intercepted at a Lagos courier company on March 25, one containing 1.9 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in car filters, and another with morphine sulphate and fentanyl ampoules.

In Lagos, NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit arrested 46-year-old Omolade Abigail Jolayemi, known as “Iya Ghana,” and 31-year-old Sarah Zainab Agbabiaka at a residence in Yaba, seizing 76.3 kilograms of cannabis (“Ghana Loud”). Another 39-year-old suspect, Anayo Lucky Ohabiro, was apprehended in Surulere with 41 kilograms of the same strain.

Further raids in Ondo, Benue, Edo, and Taraba states resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of large quantities of drugs, including:
- 894.72 kilograms of skunk in Ondo State
- 116.7 kilograms of skunk in Benue State
- 576.5 kilograms of skunk and 33 bottles of codeine-based syrup in Edo State
- 135 kilograms of compressed skunk hidden in animal feed in Taraba State

The operations highlight the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and dismantle organized criminal networks across the country.
