The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a fuel tanker secretly modified to transport illicit drugs across Nigeria.
In a statement posted on Sunday via X.com, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed that the agency’s operatives made the discovery during a targeted stop-and-search operation.
According to Babafemi, the tanker had been expertly altered to include a concealed storage space in its lower compartment — a hidden chamber specifically engineered for drug trafficking.
“Narco-trend: Fuel tanker on top but drug tanker beneath! Please watch how #ndlea_nigeria officers discovered a large storage created in the belly of this oil tanker for the sole purpose of moving drugs across the country,” he wrote.
The agency has yet to confirm the quantity or type of drugs recovered, but investigations are ongoing.
