NETANYAHU SAYS ISRAEL ‘ACTED ALONE’ IN ATTACK ON IRANIAN GAS FIELD

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel acted independently in its strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field, insisting the country did not coordinate the attack with the United States despite growing tensions between the allies.

Speaking at a press conference, Netanyahu claimed Iran was being “decimated” in the ongoing conflict, as both sides continue to target critical energy infrastructure across the region. The strike on South Pars—part of the world’s largest natural gas field—prompted Iran to retaliate with attacks on energy facilities in the Gulf, including a major complex in Qatar.

The escalation has sent shockwaves through global energy markets. Gas prices surged sharply following the attacks, while concerns mounted over disruptions to supply routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a key channel for global oil shipments.

Netanyahu denied that Israel had dragged the US into the conflict or misled Donald Trump, noting that no one dictates decisions to the American leader. However, reports suggest Trump was not informed in advance of the strike and has since called for restraint, urging that further attacks on energy targets be avoided.

Meanwhile, Iran has warned it will show “zero restraint” if its infrastructure is hit again, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. Qatar’s leadership has also described the situation as a “very dangerous escalation,” warning of serious consequences for global energy supply.

Despite the rising tensions, Netanyahu maintained that Israel’s objective is to weaken Iran’s military and strategic capabilities, adding that any internal political change in Iran would ultimately depend on its citizens.

The conflict has also spilled into Israel, with reported missile strikes hitting energy facilities in the north, though officials say the damage to power infrastructure remains limited.
