Speaking shortly after assuming office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police, Fatai addressed officers at the Officers’ Mess in Ikeja, stressing the need for discipline, professionalism, and integrity in policing. He made it clear that officers would not be allowed to demand or collect money unlawfully from members of the public.

He assured residents that reports of extortion or bribery would be thoroughly investigated, with outcomes made public, emphasizing that accountability and transparency are essential to rebuilding trust.

Fatai also outlined plans to improve security through increased visibility of police personnel across key locations, noting that a stronger presence can help deter criminal activities.

In addition, he announced the reintroduction of convoy patrols across area commands, supported by government-provided vehicles, to ensure officers remain active and responsive within communities.

The police boss further revealed that enforcement efforts would be intensified against crimes such as cultism, land grabbing, and other illegal activities.

He encouraged the public to report any form of misconduct by security personnel or related agencies, assuring that such complaints would be taken seriously and offenders sanctioned accordingly.

Fatai concluded by urging officers to embrace ethical conduct and service-driven policing, warning that acts of extortion and abuse of power would not be tolerated under his leadership.
