NEXT AWUJALE MAY BE NAMED IN 14 DAYS

The next Awujale of Ijebuland could be announced within the next 14 days, according to the Olori Ebi of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Jadiara Lateef Owoyemi.

Other key figures of the ruling house in attendance included Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, and Chairman Chief Fassy Yusuf.

While 95 princes and princesses initially expressed interest in the Awujale stool, only 85 completed the nomination process. Notably, Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, was absent from the list of nominees.

Owoyemi confirmed that all nominees had signed an agreement to forego litigation following the process. He added that the names of successful candidates would be submitted to the Afobaje (Kingmakers) today for the next stage of selection.

“It was a peaceful process,” Owoyemi said. “It is now up to the Afobaje to carry out their traditional duty in choosing the next Awujale.”

The kingmakers will select one candidate, whose name will then be forwarded to the Ogun State Government. “I pray God guides them to select an Awujale who will bring greatness to Ijebu Ode,” he added.

When asked about the selection criteria, Owoyemi stated: “The candidate chosen by the Oracle (Ifa) will come from the 85 who completed the nomination process. The kingmakers will ensure the best candidate is selected. We thank God there were no disputes or disruptions, and everything went smoothly.”
