NFF SCANDAL DEEPENS: ₦5M PAID INTO PRIVATE ACCOUNT FOR JUST TWO AIRPORT STICKERS

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has come under fresh scrutiny after records showed it spent ₦5 million on the purchase of VIP airport vehicle stickers for its top officials.

According to payment details reviewed from the Govspend public expenditure portal, the transaction was made on March 27, 2026, and described as payment for “2 VIP airport vehicles stickers for NFF president, NFF general secretary and NFF pool official vehicles each for airport shuttle.”

The payment was reportedly transferred into the personal account of Nasiru Jibril, identified as a deputy technical director within the federation.

The expenditure has sparked concern among football stakeholders and supporters who have continued to question the federation’s financial priorities at a time when Nigerian football is facing growing challenges both on and off the pitch.

The development comes as pressure mounts on the NFF leadership from a coalition of football supporters operating under the platform “Reform Our Football,” which is calling for sweeping changes in the administration of the sport.

The group has accused the federation of poor governance, lack of accountability, and neglect of key national teams, including issues surrounding unpaid allowances and inadequate preparation for major tournaments.

In its statement, the coalition also referenced the Super Eagles’ recent struggles in international competitions, describing the situation as a reflection of deeper structural problems within Nigerian football administration.

It further criticised the handling of youth and women’s football programmes, alleging delays in payments and insufficient support for national teams across different categories.

The ₦5 million expenditure on airport vehicle stickers has now added to the ongoing debate over transparency within the NFF, with stakeholders insisting that greater accountability is needed to restore public confidence and improve the performance of Nigerian football at all levels.
