The Nigerian Embassy in Niamey has coordinated the safe return of stranded Nigerian migrants from Niger. A convoy operated by Rimbo Transport Voyageurs, staffed with 12 drivers and attendants, transported the migrants through the Maradi–Katsina border corridor back into Nigeria.

In a communication to immigration, customs, and police authorities in both countries, the embassy urged relevant officials along the route to provide full cooperation to ensure the journey proceeded smoothly.

At Magama Jibia, immigration officers received at least 530 returnees, including 345 men and 185 women, from various states such as Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Niger, Taraba, Adamawa, Enugu, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Gombe, Plateau, Delta, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This repatriation follows a previous operation five months ago, when the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Nigerian government, returned 131 Nigerians from Agadez, Niger, under the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme.

NEMA officials, in coordination with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons and the Nigerian Immigration Service, conducted biometric registration and documentation for proper identification and reintegration. The returnees were further profiled at the Nigeria Immigration Service Training School in Kano.
