A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was killed on Sunday night after suspected terrorists launched an attack on a police post in Obajana, Kogi State. The police position is located near the Dangote Cement Factory, where security personnel are deployed.

Security sources told SaharaReporters on Monday that the assailants arrived in large numbers late on Sunday and attempted to overpower the security post. According to the sources, the attack was believed to be a retaliatory move linked to a recent military operation in the area that reportedly led to the deaths of more than 200 terrorists.
One of the security operatives confirmed that a CJTF member lost his life during the incident, while no police officers were killed and no weapons were taken.
“The attackers tried to overrun the position but were pushed back by the security forces,” the source said.

Another source explained that the terrorists, who were reportedly hooded, suffered heavy casualties during the confrontation and were forced to retreat after evacuating the bodies of some of their fallen members.
Troops stationed at the Dangote Cement Factory were said to have held their ground throughout the assault, preventing the attackers from gaining control of the area.
As of the time of this report, the Kogi State Police Command had yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, terrorist attacks have continued to spread across several parts of the country, including the South West. Recently, armed bandits invaded the Oyo National Park, killing more than five personnel. Days later, residents of Ikoyi-Ile in Oyo State reportedly received a letter from the bandits threatening further attacks.
