The Borno State Police Command has announced the passing of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abubakar A. Balteh, who died on Saturday following a vehicle accident.

In a statement, the Command described the late officer as a dedicated and diligent professional who served the force with commitment. ACP Balteh was heading the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at the time of his death.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, conveyed condolences on behalf of the Commissioner of Police to the family, colleagues, and associates of ACP Balteh. Prayers were offered for his soul with the Islamic invocation, “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un” (“Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return”).

While details of the accident remain undisclosed, the Command assured that further information, including burial arrangements, would be shared in due course.

ACP Balteh’s passing is regarded as a significant loss to the Criminal Investigation Department, where he played a crucial role in overseeing investigations and maintaining law and order in the state. The Police Command has urged the public to keep his family in their thoughts during this period of mourning.
