Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an underground Boko Haram logistics and supply facility in Borno State, stocked with medical supplies, fuel, and other critical materials. The discovery came after forces overran several terrorist enclaves in the Timbuktu Triangle region.
The operation, conducted on Sunday, January 18, 2026, targeted identified Boko Haram and ISWAP positions in Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma, following detailed intelligence reports. During the offensive, troops successfully repelled multiple drone attacks launched by the terrorists.
Lt. Col. Uba Sani, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday.
According to Sani, the mission was executed under Operation Desert Sanity and resulted in the destruction of several terrorist camps, significantly weakening the operational and logistical capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP in the area.
“Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, recorded further operational successes in the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity, destroying multiple terrorist camps, recovering arms and equipment, and repelling coordinated insurgent attacks in the Timbuktu Triangle,” the statement read.
The operation benefited from air-ground synergy, with the air component providing persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) coverage. This support allowed troops to track terrorist movements in real-time, prevent reinforcements, and execute precise ground operations.
During the clearance of the terrorist enclaves, troops recovered a range of military and logistical assets, including:

Sani explained that these recoveries further degraded the operational capacity of the terrorists, limiting their ability to sustain attacks.
The advancing troops faced armed drone assaults at midday and again in the evening, both of which were successfully repelled. The resistance forced the terrorists to withdraw, reaffirming the military’s dominance in the region.
“Despite sustained engagements, troop morale remains high, and operational efficiency is being maintained. The general security situation in the area is calm but unpredictable, requiring continued vigilance,” Sani added.
The military high command reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations, emphasizing that troops remain resolute in their mission to eliminate terrorist threats, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
