Nigerian police fire gunshots at Soludo’s residence to celebrate his election victory (Video)

Jubilation erupted on Sunday at Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s country home in Isuofia, Anambra State, as police attached to his residence fired celebratory gunshots following his re-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of the November 8, 2025, governorship election with 422,664 votes. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma (YPP) had 37,753 votes, George Moghalu (LP) 10,576, John Nwosu (ADC) 8,208, and Jude Ezenwafor (PDP) 1,401.

 

Videos from the celebration showed individuals singing and dancing while gunfire rang out. The police have not commented on the incident.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Soludo, praising his leadership, accountability, and the progress made under his administration. The President urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory, seek collaboration with opponents, and assured him of continued federal support.Headline news
