Missing Police Inspector Found Dead in Benue.
The lifeless body of a missing police officer, Inspector Mohammed Yakubu, has been recovered in Benue State, months after he disappeared while on official duty.
Security sources confirmed that Yakubu’s remains were found on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in a bush at Tse Keleke, within Guma Local Government Area.
The location is close to where he was last seen before going missing and is known for persistent security challenges. The body was reportedly in a decomposed state at the time of discovery.

Inspector Yakubu was attached to the 13 Police Mobile Force (PMF) and deployed to the Operation Zenda Joint Task Force (JTF).
He was declared missing on June 13, 2025, after disappearing during a security operation at Tse Keleke, about 10 kilometres from Daudu.
As of the time of this report, the Benue State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
However, security sources disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of his death and to identify those responsible.

Benue State continues to experience violent attacks linked to armed groups, communal clashes and criminal gangs.
Rural areas such as Guma, Logo and Gwer West have recorded repeated incidents involving the killing or abduction of civilians and security personnel, despite sustained joint task force operations.
The death of Inspector Yakubu has renewed concerns about the safety of officers deployed to high-risk zones.
There are increasing calls for improved intelligence gathering, better equipment and stronger protection for security personnel operating in volatile parts of the state.
