#NIMASA Moves To Improve Workplace Communication

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has inaugurated a staff joint consultative forum to strengthen the relationship between its management and workforce.

The Director-General, NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, inaugurated the 18-member forum in Lagos, according to a statement obtained by our correspondent on Sunday.

He stated during the exercise that communication between the management and staff was key to moving the maritime industry forward.

Jamoh, represented by the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Mrs Ronke Thomas, acknowledged the recent achievements in the agency’s core mandates while saying they had been driven by the workforce’s motivation.

He said, “Management is not about us and them. Effective management is the ability to get the best out of the workforce and we have always championed this since we took leadership of this Agency.

“We want to further give the workforce a voice, which will be another milestone in the history of this Agency.”

Stressing the importance of the consultative forum, the DG stated that as someone who rose through the ranks and spent over three decades in the industry, he was aware of the yearnings of the staff. He said he would prioritise anything that would grow maritime in Nigeria.
