NNPC generates ₦6tr in May, remits ₦5.5trn in four months

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reported a substantial revenue of N6 trillion for May 2025, reflecting a continued drive for transparency under its new management. This follows the release of key financial data last month, signaling a shift towards greater corporate accountability.

According to the monthly financial summary for May, NNPC remitted a total of N5.5 trillion to the Federation Account between January and April 2025. This marks an increase of N800 billion from the N4.7 trillion reported for the first quarter, though it falls below the earlier average monthly remittance of N1.5 trillion recorded between January and March.

Despite this, the company achieved a profit after tax of N1.054 trillion in May alone.

Crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.63 million barrels per day during the month, peaking at 1.72 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, natural gas production stood at 7,352 million standard cubic feet per day, supporting both local consumption and export obligations.

Operational efficiency also remained high, with pipeline availability in the upstream sector at 98%. Key infrastructure projects made notable progress: the OB3 pipeline reached 96% completion, while the AKK pipeline hit 81%.

NNPC further emphasized its commitment to improving asset performance through turnaround maintenance on major pipelines and flow stations, as well as ongoing collaboration with technical partners to eliminate production bottlenecks and enhance output reliability.
